2010 Hoosier Outdoor Experience
We headed out to Fort Ben this past weekend for everything the great outdoors could offer. We started by taking a school bus into the park, which dropped us off near the Atlatl. Nick got to throw spear style since his hands were small.
Next, we took the red "trolley" to the kid zone area. Nicholas got to make an owl caller and do a little casting. If only we knew where the rest of the boat was!
After exploring the green trolley to the horses and blue trolley around the lake, we took the yellow trolley to Nick's favorite section of the day. He started by shooting a bow and arrow.
And he finished by shooting a rifle. Although he didn't hit any targets, he did enjoy the "smoke" that came out of the end.

Trains and Elevators
It was an absolutely beautiful day, so we motored up to spend a day in Chicago.
Nicholas checked out the schedule and figured out when to catch the train...
Not only did Nick get to ride the train, but his Daddy got to fulfill his long-standing desire to finally ride The South Shore after talking about it for years...
We had a wonderful brunch up in the Signature Room while Nicholas pointed out the planes that were below us :)
This is the building we were up in...
Alright, maybe not that particular Lego version. But, Nicholas did get to go wheel crazy at the Pick-A-Brick section of the Chicago Lego store....

Warren Dunes Weekend
Ahh, it's one of my favorite times of the year. We went on our annual trip to Warren Dunes State Park in Michigan.
The camper found a nice shady spot for Nick to set it up...
Some serious sand work was completed with the mighty machines...
And don't worry plenty of time was found for swimming and climbing the beast of a dune...

Camping and Boating
Can you tell we've missed the nicer weather? After a rough wet/cold patch here in May, warmer weather came back in spades. So of course we would be remiss if we didn't sneak in some boating and camping down at Monroe Reservoir. Nevermind that spent the whole afternoon at the track before we had this brilliant plan...

The Very Long Day of Disney
Ok, no one thought that we'd start Disney at 9:30 and still be there 12 hours later. Crazy is the only way to describe it. Tons of rides, full-size Lightning McQueen, a billion people, phenomenal fireworks show, and one really excited little boy. I do have to admit, Nick did use his Uncle Matt for a pillow for about an hour and a half.
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride started it off just a little too scary...
A ride in the monkey cage on the circus train was certainly a highlight...
A brief rest in Minnie's chair was a respite from the horror of Toon Town...
Oh yeah, first driver's license from Autopia...
Blasting those silly space Z's with reckless abandon. We still aren't sure how Uncle Matt got that high of score...
